Another incident of honor killing: Sister killed by brother in Mardan

What happened: On February 19, Express Tribune reported another incident of alleged honor killing in Sher Garh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa woman, along with her  admirer,  was killed by her brother in the Mardan district. Accused was identified by the Sher Garh police as Inam Bacha and Express tribune quotes it,  “Inam Bacha opened fire at his sister Nabeel and her suitor Gul Taj killing both of them.”

Details: At the same time, Express Tribune quoted the brother of Gul Taj,  “My brother visited Nabeela to convince her to go back to her home and children, but her brother mistook their chatting for an affair and killed both of them.”  It is pertinent to mention that this is not the first incident of honor killing in the province; in 2021, a 14-year-old son murdered his mother in the name of honor killing. Express Tribune noted,  “Honour killings are widespread across KP and each year dozens of women are killed by family members.”
