What happened: On Feb 4, zoo director, Mudassir Hussain reported that a 10-year-old male giraffe passed away at Lahore Zoo, reportedly due to “blood infection.” Details: It is pertinent to mention that only one pair of giraffes existed at the zoo, and following the death of the ten-year-old animal, only a female giraffe is left now. The blood infection: According to the director, the giraffe was “receiving treatment for a blood-related ailment.” He went on to say that the cause of death will be determined after they receive the giraffe’s autopsy report, however, the animal’s body has been buried. Previously: This giraffe was procured by the Lahore Zoo in 2018, along with two female companions, among which, one of the female giraffes died soon after arrival. As a result, the contractor obtained a replacement giraffe, but she passed away due to unknown reasons during the quarantine period. What’s next: The vendor is obligated to supply another animal to the zoo because both deaths occurred within the quarantine period, but he has yet to do so.
