After rising concerns, Shehbaz govt scrapped import ban on dog and cat food

What happened: It is pertinent to mention that earlier Shehbaz-led government had announced an  emergency economic plan  and banned the import of cat food and other deemed luxury items. At the same time, this received severe backlash as pet owners called to revert the decision. However, now the federal government and the ministry of commerce have announced to scrap the ban on certain items, including cat and dog food.  Details: The Commerce Ministry of Pakistan issued the notification of lifting the ban from certain items, as it was announced,  “to lift restrictions on the import of certain items and those which were ordered before May to address the concerns…”  Whereas, previously, as Dawn’s Marsha Tayab reported,  “Pet parents around Pakistan have been shaken by news that their beloved pets’ food is on the list..”  However, this uplift may come as a piece of positive news for pet owners.
