After criticism, Instagram finally beefs up child protection measures on the platform

What happened:  Meta has recently revealed that they are planning to roll out different measures to boost the safety of young Instagram users, as they plan to curb the issues young users face. It is pertinent to mention that Instagram has previously received backlash for not adhering to  proper  protection laws for youth users.  Details:  TheFrontierPost quotes the development as,  “Meta, which also owns Facebook and WhatsApp, has said that parents and guardians would be able to set time limits on children’s scrolling on Instagram.”  However, this tool would come in handy for the parents, as Meta’s press briefing is quoted,  “develop tools that respect the privacy and autonomy of young people while involving parents in the experience.”  More:  At the same time, TikTok and other social media platforms have vastly been criticized for not having proper child protection guidelines. As previously, TikTok had also announced,  “young people would get nudges to remind them to take a break from scrolling.”
