After Covid-19, Dengue might come back to Punjab

What happened:  With heavy rains taking over the provincial capital previously, the Chief Secretary has issued a high-risk alert regarding ten towns in Lahore with dengue. It is pertinent to mention that this comes at a time when Lahore and Punjab at large have seen a surge in Covid-19 cases after a gap, and as TheNation quotes,  “After an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, a dengue outbreak has been feared in Punjab’s capital Lahore.”  Details:  The Covid-19 positivity rate in Lahore currently stands at 2.82%. On the other hand, it is pertinent to mention that dengue is widespread throughout the tropics, with local variations also influenced by rainfall and temperature. However, the chief secretary noted,  “The secretaries of the ten towns will send their report to the secretary, Department of Primary and Secondary Health Punjab.”
