Dezato by Murrad Gillani launched on 27 October and has been selling soft serves in Lahore since then. Reviews: This local ice cream pop-up has been around for just a month and customers are already comparing it to Hotspot and McDonalds.
“I would rate it a 10/10, also if compared to Hotspot or even Mocca, they’ve done pretty well considering that they opened just a few days ago,” says Haroon on the Facebook group Foodies’ R Us.
A few other foodies have claimed that Dezato’s ice cream is far better than Mcdonald’s Sundaes, and Dezato’s Brownie Armando is definitely above any other brownie.
Despite the pop-up shifting every month, the customers seem to have chased every pop-up as Murad Gilani’s store is sold out each day!
What’s the hype? The inspiration behind Murrad Gilani’s Dezato is why his business is running so well. Murrad’s inspiration has been the warmth that he had felt at the food tables, as “Gathering at my grandmother’s house for evening tea or dinners and all cousins sitting around the table with a life size tray of a mountain of fries and just celebrating food and critiquing it.”
What you need to know: Murrad Gillani, the business owner, has had a long relationship with food. He said, “I’ve been cooking/ burning things/ experimenting with food since I was 9 or 10 years old. I’ve always been extremely fond of food generally.” Murrad Gillani got his first baking equipment at the age of 9, and since then, it has been history.
Well, for Murrad food is a healer, is it the same for you?
