What happened: On the 30th of November, the apex court of Pakistan, before ordering immediate releases has granted bail to Ali Wazir. It is pertinent to know that Ali Wazir was jailed in a case related to “hate-speech and remakrs against state institutions,” in Karachi. Justice Sardar Tariq Masood’s bench heard the bail plea of Ali Wazir and set the bail at 400,000 rupees.
Details: The three-judge bench stated that the other accused in the hate speech case was granted bail, and their bails were not challenged. However, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood is quoted by a publication, “It is possible that matters are settled with Ali Wazir someday as well.” Waziristan’s MNA was arrested from Peshawar on the 16th of December 2020, while an appeal against his arrest was made at the Sindh High Court. Another MNA from North-Waziristan Mohsin Dawar (@mohsindawarofficial) tweeted, “Ali has remained in prison for over 11 months for a speech. It took a long time but glad that Ali will be out on bail.”
