What happened: On March 1, the African Union in a statement, said,  “Reports that Africans are singled out for unacceptable dissimilar treatment would be shockingly racist and in international breach law.”  Subsequently, AlJazeera reported that the Ukrainian authorities turned several Asian and African nationals as they tried to reach Poland and cross the border.  Details: Whereas, the African families trying to cross the border also noted that there was a clear contrast in the treatment as  “We understand that they need to save their citizens, but we have been loyal to Ukraine.”  At the same time, the Nigerian government is quoted by AlJazeera,  “There have been unfortunate reports of Ukrainian police & security personnel refusing to allow Nigerians to board buses and trains heading towards the Poland border.”  More: Amid the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, there have been thousands of citizens of Ukraine who have evacuated the country. VICE News quotes one of the African National medical students in Ukraine as,  “The way we are being treated, it was such a bad experience.
