Abducted person’s investigation led to recovery of 151 kidnapped girls from Sargodha

What happened: On Feb 21, the Supreme Court was informed about recovery of 151 kidnapped girls in Sargodha as the hearing in Sobia Batool case continued. Details: In Nov 2021, Batool was kidnapped from the Sargodha district. The case was heard by a three-member panel presided over by Justice Maqbool Baqir, who voiced concern over the abduction of girls from Sargodha, calling it a result of “police incompetence and failure.” The investigation: According to District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Rizwan Ahmad Khan, an operation was carried out on the court’s direction to find Batool, and as a result, 151 girls were rescued from various locations of the Sargodha division.  The abducted girls: 21 girls were rescued from brothels, according to DPO Sargodha, but Sobia Batool is yet to be discovered. He elaborated that 16 offenders have been arrested and several of the retrieved girls presented marriage certificates. What’s next: Furthermore, the court ordered the Punjab Inspector General, Rao Sardar Ali Khan, to rescue other abducted girls throughout the province and take action to recover Batool as soon as possible. The court also denied Muhammad Umair’s bail plea, who was arrested in connection with the Batool’s kidnapping.
