Aamir Liaquat criticized for saying that rise in divorce rate is due to “independent and ungrateful women”

What happened: On January 17, the elected MNA from PTI, Aamir Liaquat Husain, termed the rise in Khula rates to the disobedience shown by women. He revealed the stats of rising Khula rates in the country as he said,  “In one year, one lakh women approached the courts for khula and more than ten thousand khula were issued.”  Subsequently, he added that the reasons for an increase in Khula rates is  “Disobedience, ungratefulness, doustou aur maa kay waswasou, bay-lehazi aur media kay sabz bagh deikhanay ki waja sey khula paida hujata hai.”  At the same time, the PTI MNA claimed that the women later regretted khula’s decision.  Details: Aamir Liaquat had turned of commenting under his tweet, but the Twitterati quote tweeted and wrote,  “Aamir Liaquat you do not have to worry on their behalf. They have their own life and their own brain.”  While, Rabeea claimed,  “Second paragraph is actually diagnostic evidence of our country’s problem.”  Subsequently, Muzammil Ullah Khan tweeted,  “It is better to get a khula than live with a mean abusing husband.”  What you need to know:   It is not the first time that the PTI’s elected MNA or MPA had said something about the rising divorce cases in Pakistan. Previously, Dr. Nausheen Hamid had termed the increase in divorce rate to women smoking in the country.
