What happened : On Sunday, a mob attacked and set fire to a police station in the Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They wanted the police to handover them man imprisoned for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran. Details : On Sunday, police arrested a guy for allegedly desecrating the Quran. They moved him to the Mandani police station in Charsadda’s Tangi tehsil, according to KP Law Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan. A mob gathered outside the police station afterwards and demanding that the man be handed over to them. When the mob, which had risen to a substantial number by late evening, was refused their demand, they became enraged. As a result they attacked the police station by setting it on fire. According to the minister, they also vandalized the vehicles stationed at the police station. What else : 4,000-5,000 people ransacked the police station and a police post, according to Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Mehsud. He also said the man is safe in police custody.
