90% of children are raped by their relatives, claimed Shehzad Roy

What happened: Shehzad Roy, in his 2018 interview, claimed that the rapes of 90% of children in Pakistan are done by their relatives. While Shehzad also claimed that 10% of child rapes in Pakistan are done by serial killers and highlighted the importance of talking about the taboo topics of society to prevent such cases. During the interview, Shehzad Roy said,  “The inclusion of Life Skill Based Education in the official curriculum will be able to help counter this problem of the society.”  Also: The renowned singer and social worker, Shehzad Roy(@officialshehzadroy), urged government officials to include Life Skills Based Education in the official Curriculum. However, according to Shehzad Roy’s recent post, LSBE has officially been included in the Curriculum, though Shehzad only faced difficulty from some segments of the society and no opposition was faced from the government. During his interview in 2018, he talked about how difficult it is to speak with their children on the topic of  “inappropriate touches,”  and such taboo topics.  What else: At the same time, Shehzad Roy claimed that only 0.1% of Pakistani parents talk about taboo topics with their children. It is pertinent to mention here that Shehzad Roy worked in public-sector institutions for years to bring educational reforms. His initiative of including LSBE in the Curriculum may empower children to protect themselves against physical and sexual abuse as the Sindh and Balochistan governments have already accepted this inclusion.
