6th grader Muslim student humiliated and ‘dehumanized’ by a teacher in Pennsylvania

What happened: Taliyah Holmes, the mother of an 11-year-old claimed that Jahiir’s teacher, instead of giving child the phone back, the teacher made her son get on his knees to beg for it. In the viral video on social media, Taliyah Holmes said,  “The teacher said: Oh you want your phone back? I need you to beg for it, I need to see tears.”  The incident was reported on the 22nd of December in Pennsylvania and the family’s lawyer said,  “The white teacher’s tactics are reminiscent buck breaking used in slavery.”  Details: The family lawyer Nidir Muhammad stated,  “The teacher forcing Jahiir to kneel violates the family’s religious beliefs. Kneeling and begging are animalistic. Also my religious beliefs forbid a man to kneel down to anyone but God.”  However, Taliyah, the 11-year old’s mother, has also claimed that the teacher who humiliated his son is not currently teaching in the school.  Also:   At the same time, Taliyah Holmes has also filed a complaint at the local police station of Darby Township and demanded the teacher’s apology. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has also condemned the incident and released a statement,  “For a teacher to forcibly confiscate a student’s phone and then make him kneel and beg in front of the class is intolerable and the district should immediately suspend the teacher.”
