A school had been established in the temple 30 years ago, which has now been moved to another building. Deputy Commissioner Talha Saleem, who was present at the ceremony, expressed a desire to establish a tolerant society which accepts all religions and faiths while handing over the keys of the temple to the Hindu community.
It’s hard to say yes after just this one incident because there are other marginalised minorities in Pakistan. However, it can also not be denied that this isn’t a step further towards a more tolerant society. But if Pakistan wants to be tolerant, it needs to accept everyone, be they be Hindus, Christians or even Ahmedis.
