1st metaverse wedding in India receives more than 3,000 guests

What happened: Covid-19 lockdown and SOPs force the Indian couple to hold a virtual wedding in the metaverse. On February 7, the Indian media reported,  “I feel so proud and blessed that I have seen and taken advantage of many great opportunities in this world before millions of people have seen them…”  Dinesh, aged 24 and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy, aged 23, got married in the metaverse as the UAE bars more than 100 guests at a wedding. 

Details: The metaverse wedding lasted for two hours and has been credited as  “Asia’s first-ever metaverse marriage..”  Dinesh works with blockchain technology and is reported to be a cryptocurrency enthusiast, while her fiancee is an IT professional as they designed a Harry-Potter themed reception. 

More: The metaverse wedding was set up with the help of a tech start-up called TardiVerse. Mint’s report quotes the groom as,  “I am into blockchain, NFTs, and technology for the past few years. I used to be unique and I wanted to keep my life event as a memorable one.”
