10kg heroin and 100kg hashish among the Rs140 million worth of drugs seized at Torkham border

What happened: Days before New Year Eve, Customs authorities at the Torkham border seized nearly 200 kilograms of drugs worth more than 140 million rupees at the border. Additional Customs Collector of Peshawar along with Torkham Customs Officer Sadiq Akbar, stopped the truck near Kohat and uncovered the drugs. Details: The authorities recovered 4.5kgs of crystal methamphetamine, 71kg opium, 100kg hashish(chars), and 10kh heroin. Subsequently, the truck driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized. The truck driver was shifted to Peshawar’s Custom House. Another incident: On January 6, the customs authorities at the Torkham border confiscated drugs valued at 550 million rupees, including 35kg of heroin and 17.4kg of methamphetamine. In another similar incident, the Pakistan Customs seized a hoard of 113 heroin powder bags weighing 80khs worth 790 million rupees. Subsequently, the driver of the 2nd truck driver was arrested by Customs.
